Well, we can say one thing is for sure not a single one of us could have predicted the season starting off like this. With just about 5 minutes off the clock the new look Celtics free agent gem Gordon Hayward goes down with a terrible injury. One that I would put up there with some of the most gruesome injuries in recent years. It is just really unfortunate to see something like that happen. Instant condolences via twitter and I think Danny Green said it best.“Gordon Hayward …… as competitive as we are against each other, none of us ever want to see anyone go through this #prayersup. Hopefully he can recover and make a come back late in the season speedy recovery from what is said to be a dislocated ankle and fractured tibia.
I did not get to watch most of the game due to prior obligations, but from the final score the Cavs might have a problem on their hands. I mean if Gordon doesn’t go down who knows what happens, but this isn’t a game of what ifs. Because if it was we all would pose the question that Jadakiss wanted to know what if Portland took Jordan in stead of Sam Bowie. Again this is being wrote without watching the highlight yet if Im terribly wrong I will give you a retraction. (No the fuck I won’t, like the great gringo Mandingo we don’t fact check) But it seems to be my boy Uncle Drew had himself a decent little game with a double-double with 16 points10 assists only 2 turnovers if I’m not mistaken, almost hits the 3 to send it into OT over LBJ.(2nd favorite player we aint forget about you LeBron 29 points 16 rebounds 9 assists almost with that triple dub) I was ready to see how the new squad was going to work. I mean on paper to me it looks solid Kyrie, Gordon, Brown, Tatum bringing that rookie power, and Big Al to hold it down. Sadly only if G-money didn’t go down (insert sad Emoji)and all I can think of is Michale Clarke Duncan’s words “If, if ands and buts, were candy and nuts. We would all have a merry Christmas!” So we will just have to see how this plays out for the Celtics.(not a Celtics fan Kyrie my boy, its impossible to have true team anymore if there aint one in your city.)
Listening to this Houston and Golden State game and last time I checked it was 101-88 obviously Golden State. Next thing I Know issa 5 (4:00 left in the 4th) point game. But was is crazy is late in the 4th Steph only got 3 treys on the board. But Swaggy P is 8-9 from the field and an incredible 6-7 from deep.If we can keep hitting at this rate this super team is looking even more scary then I thought they would. I mean I won’t lie I’m a hater of all things Golden State but I give them all the respect and credit that they deserve for this unheard of run they have been on over the past 3 seasons. Shit with just under 2 minutes left it’s a point game, we got 15 three pointers for the Rockets, and 16 treys up for GS. Not to be lost in all this is the fact that Draymond almost netted a triple double in only 28 minutes 9 points, 11 boards, and 13 dimes not bad sir not bad. Definitely looking forward to the rest of this opening games this week and to see the new rosters mesh over the season. And just like that on a heart break play KD did not get the shot off in time and lose the home opener for the 2nd straight year. (maybe a good omen) What a great first 2 games to tip off the season, lets keep em coming boys.
Sneak culture, what does that a mean to you? Is it simply just about shoes, or is there more to it? Of course this isn’t really something you can just wake up one day and say; ” Hey, you know what? I’m going to be a “sneaker head”.” Well at least it shouldn’t be like that. Now Im not saying you can’t pick up and join the culture but also respect the lifestyle that you are getting into. For me this is almost something I was born in to. With the recent release of the “Dennis Rodman Ndestukt” I was hit with a huge nostalgic flash back. This is a story I tell almost on a daily basis when I am asked why I like shoes so much. As a product of a single parent home times weren’t always the best and money was often tight. I can recall all the Payless days and Walmart shoes. I even drew Nike checks on my gym shoes with permanent marker. But my brother that was a different story. I mean that was my guy, I wanted to be just like him. He had the dope ride, all the new video games, and of course all the freshest gear. I remember not being able to have these nice shoes because well moms wasn’t dropping money like that on a 9-year-old with a size 10 foot already. So my only option was wait till he left for class and then swipe the kicks. One of the more memorable stories involving these shoes is also how I broke my one and only gone in my life. It was just one of the days I decided to flex on these fools. So of course you know I snagged those kicks before leaving for school. As I get to school my boy E mutha fuckin Hansen comes up and ask if I wanna play football with the older kids. Of course I did I wasn’t a small kid so I could hang with the big dogs. Today was apparently not my day. Now that I think about it I don’t even know why we were playing where were playing. Who the hell plays football on a hill? Anyway I had the ball and I was running people over, making em miss. The kid was out there looking like Edgerrin James, and if you don’t know who that is take your young ass somewhere and google him. As I’m coming off a missed tackle, and it’s just me one on one with Lance Melvin. I said fuck it Im going for it. Planted my foot, lowered my shoulder, but I guess I didn’t lower it enough he got lower. Next thing I know I’m falling backward the ball flying over my face. Somethings not right. As I lay there on the ground making sure everything works I get up and go on about my business. I am done playing for the rest of the game. Proceed to go to class for about 3 hours before I could go to the nurse. Which was a waste of time she ran some weak as strength test and I passed, and she sent me back to class. So this goes on for about 2 more days finally I tell my mom what happened and off to the hospital we go. Come to find out this guy had hit me so hard he broke my collar-bone. That is probably the second hardest I ever was hit playing football. Like I stated in the title the irony is in the name because I found out that day I was not Ndestuktable. (I know its corny.) This is just one of many moments that shoes brings me back to. I just knew after I started wearing all his Nike’s, Adidas, and FILA’s I was hooked. What are some of your memorable sneaker stories? What got you into the culture? Everybody has a story to tell, we need to share these that’s what makes the culture so great. We all come from different walks of life but we all have that one thing in common and that is our love and passion or the kicks. Stay blessed y’all.
